Today, as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of India’s largest and pioneering loyalty organization – PAYBACK, he is fortified to provide cutting-edge loyalty solutions and is widely acknowledged as an authority of the loyalty industry.
Vijay’s dynamic industry stature is attributed to the rich and diverse experience spanning over 20 years from various geographies and industries. His efforts as a Partner at a strategy consultancy firm, McKenna Group in Silicon Valley, equipped him to build advanced strategic solutions required to create new markets for emerging technologies while solving essential business and consumer problems. His stints at Mentor Graphics, a leading CAD Software Manufacturer and National Semiconductor, sharpened his product management and launch skills. At Amdahl Corporation, a prominent Computer Manufacturer, he honed his problem solving ability. His entrepreneurial instincts have been pivotal in imbibing the culture of innovative thinking among the employees and therefore etching the success story of PAYBACK as India’s largest loyalty program with millions of active members, with over 50 online and in-store partners, and presence at more than 3000 Points of Sale across 100 odd cities.
Vijay’s ingenious efforts in the field of loyalty are established as benchmarks for evaluation, cementing his standing as a popular industry spokesperson. He was also invited as a Co-Chair, Marketing and Sales chapter in “First Mile”, An Entrepreneurial Primer and Published by TiE.
Steered by Vijay’s urge to excel, PAYBACK has achieved coveted industry Awards such as “Product of the Year” 2013 in the Reward Points/Loyalty Programs category, based on 18,000 consumer interviews, across 23 cities in India and been honored with Retailer Customer Service Awards for 2013 in Customer Service. Asia’s Retail Congress Award for the year 2009 for Best Loyalty Program, also adds to the trail of feats.
Vijay received his MBA from the University of California’s prestigious Haas School of Business at Berkeley. He is also an alumnus of the University of Georgia, Athens (USA) where he graduated with a Masters in Applied Mathematical Science. He completed his Bachelor in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli, India.
Mr. Rahul Rana
Mr. Rahul Rana is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PAYBACK India. As COO, Rahul provides strategic oversight on all business goals while directly overseeing Business Development, Partner Management, Operations and Customer Service. Rahul joined the core leadership team of PAYBACK when the brand was acquired by American Express in year 2011.
Prior to joining PAYBACK, Rahul served his tenure as Vice President (VP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at American Express (AmEx). At AmEx, Rahul played a critical role in evaluating several potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships critical to drive the business in India. He spent over 10 successful years with American Express across a wide range of functions and businesses with stints across US, Europe and South Asia. He has also enjoyed successful stints at GE Capital and ICICI Bank before joining AmEx.
At PAYBACK, Rahul aspires to consolidate the leadership position of the company by growing its footprint across new industry categories and customer segments, and constantly evolving the consumer touch points. He believes that PAYBACK’s success would be based on creating clear and compelling customer value, supporting clients in their goals through intelligent customized solutions and by making every interaction a rewarding experience.
Under Rahul’s leadership, PAYBACK has more than doubled its customer and client base, and strengthened all existing relationships. Rahul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Delhi University and an MBA in Finance. During leisure time, Rahul loves to travel and is an avid trekker.
